The Parent’s Association have organised the former Governor of Mountjoy Prison, John Lonergan, to visit St.Colmcille’s Girls’ N.S. on Wednesday 17th May at 7.30 pm to deliver a talk on the challenges and rewards involved with parenting.
Mr Lonergan is a much in demand front row speaker at many events and we are thrilled to have him address our parents.
He has been presenting talks for parents for over 25 years based on his own experience of parenting.
Mr. Lonergan’s talk will focus on a number of important issues facing parents of children of all ages.
The main points will include our relationship with modern technology and social media and the dangers to our children, accepting our children’s reality from day one including their ability and basing our expectations on their ability rather than ours as parents.
Furthermore, Mr. Lonergan will speak about the importance of listening and hearing our children, the communication barriers that we as parents create between ourselves and our children, a few no-nos, and the importance of praise and positivity.
The talk usually will take approximately an hour or so and will be delivered in a relaxed and reflective style.
All are welcome to come along on the night and the event is free.
